Liverpool v Man Utd: How many title races have they had?
Liverpool reportedly do have plans to sign a centre-back with Brighton centre-back Ben White of 'genuine interest'. Jurgen Klopp's side has been hit hard in the defensive department this campaign with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez suffering long injury lay-offs.
Joel Matip has struggled with fitness issues again while Fabinho has also been forced to miss a handful of games.
It comes after the club decided against replacing Dejan Lovren in the summer, but it's come back to bite them.
Fabinho is currently the only fit senior centre back at the club and Jordan Henderson was dropped back into defence in the 1-0 defeat at Southampton last week.
While neither barely put a foot wrong, moving the two midfielders back into defence clearly affected Liverpool's rhythm across the park.

The front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane haven't looked as sharp in recent weeks with suggestions the change in midfield has hampered them up front,
With the January transfer window open, there have been calls from former Anfield stars for the club to bring in some desperately needed defensive cover.
Despite this, reports have consistently suggested that Liverpool will not go into the market this month.
However, it appears as though Liverpool are making plans to bring in defensive cover.
According to the Liverpool Echo, transfer chief Michael Edwards has led a scouting system with the view to make a move in the summer.
Ozan Kabak, David Alaba and Sven Botman have all been linked with moves to Anfield over the past few months.
But the report claims Brighton's White remains the only player Liverpool have 'genuine interest' in.
The defender was extensively watched by club scouts during his time at Leeds last season with positive reports coming back to Klopp.
Liverpool reportedly watched closely in the summer as Leeds tried and failed to sign White on a permanent basis as they already knew that Brighton had agreed terms on a new long-term deal.
