Murphy targets Wigan
DANNY MURPHY is aiming to be back in Premier League action against Wigan on Sunday after Thursday’s Europa League date in Rome was yesterday ruled out as coming too soon.
Murphy has not played since limping off against Hull in the middle of last month, missing two draws against Roma and Manchester City and the victory over Liverpool.
However, the midfielder has insisted he is ahead of schedule in his recovery and would be back in contention for the match at the DW Stadium. Roy Hodgson’s other big injury concern is Andy Johnson after the striker was ruled out with a groin complaint nearly a month ago.
Fulham will travel to the Italian capital tomorrow for their Group E clash with AS Roma and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is eyeing an historic victory. He said: “We were very disappointed not to win against Roma at home.”
