Manchester United completed a late deal for the experienced Edinson Cavani this summer.

Manchester United should have signed Raul Jimenez from Wolves instead of Edinson Cavani, according to former Red Devils captain Paul Ince. United completed a two-year deal for Cavani on transfer deadline day. The Uruguayan had been without a club since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract in the summer.
First-choice striker Anthony Martial is now back from his domestic suspension so is likely to keep Cavani out of the side for this Saturday's trip to Goodison Park to play Everton.
But Ince is confused as to why United would sign a player like Cavani and not use him more often than they are.
He instead thinks Wolves frontman Jimenez would have been a better option for executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

"They've always had money to buy players. If you bring players in for those big amounts and you're not playing them but the team is winning, then great.
"When you don't play them and the team isn't getting results, people will start questioning Ole about recruitment and results.

"Those two factors combined are going to put pressure on Ole. Recruitment and results.
"There are so many players out there who could have come into that Man United team. You look at Thomas Partey, Raul Jimenez.
"Last season United needed to bring in a striker and they go and get Odion Ighalo from China. What was that about?
"Go and spend £40m on Jimenez. He's a proven striker, a scorer. You know, and then they go and get Edinson Cavani who will hardly play.
"You've got to look at the structure, the recruitment, the scouting system and think 'what are they looking at?'.
"There's a lot of good players out there, top, top players. Go and get these players. But they haven't."
Ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton, United play away at Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League this evening (5.55pm).
