Man Utd: Pundit accuses Ed Woodward of lying about transfers
Manchester United are paying the price for a “shambolic” transfer window, and Ed Woodward should have gone all-out on deadline day to sign world-class players after their poor start to the season. That’s the opinion of ESPN pundit Craig Burley, who explained that United are still trying to catch up with the rest of the big sides in the Premier League.
United endured a manic transfer deadline day on Monday, as the club made five signings in the space of 24 hours.
Alex Telles became their most expensive signing of the day, with the left-back signing in a deal worth £18million. Winger Amad Traore was signed for a similar fee from Atalanta, but won’t join until January.
Edinson Cavani, Facundo Pellistri and Willy Kambwala were all signed, with the latter joining up with the under-18 side.
Reports on Wednesday claimed United failed to sign any of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer targets, as they missed out on Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Dayot Upamecano.

“Once again, we’ve seen the hierarchy of this football club stumble around like drunks on a Friday night trying to sign players. Quite frankly, it’s just not good enough.
“They still should be better than what we’ve seen on the field with what they’ve got. They’ve been outplayed by every team so far.
“Crystal Palace – outplayed and humiliated. Brighton and Hove Albion – outplayed, and that was one they got away with. That’s before we even get to the Tottenham game. Tottenham were going to beat them on that day, because Tottenham had their number.
“They’ve been humiliated in all three games. You would have thought that would have spurred Ed Woodward on to go and at least make some big signings, but no.”
