Chelsea: Caballero shows off his skills in training
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been warned he has to let new signing Edouard Mendy settle at the club before he puts him into the first team, and that he should play Willy Caballero in goal against West Brom this weekend instead. Former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has given Lampard some words of advice ahead of Mendy’s signing.
Chelsea are set to confirm the arrival of Mendy today after paying Rennes £22million.
The 28-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a five-year contract and train with his new team-mates for the first time today.
He is expected to have signed in time to feature this weekend against West Brom in the Premier League, with numerous reports suggesting the paperwork on the deal is already done.
The Frenchman is expected to be KepaArrizabalaga’sreplacement, as the £72m man has fallen out of favour under Lampard.

Arrizabalagawas criticised against Liverpool on Monday after a mistake led straight to Sadio Mane’s second goal of the game.
He was dropped for the Carabao Cup game against Barnsley on Wednesday night as Willy Caballero kept a clean sheet in the 6-0 win.
And with Mendy coming in, it appearsArrizabalaga’schances of first-team football are pretty much over.
However, Hislop warned on ESPN FC that it would be too early for the Frenchman to be given a slot in the starting line-up, and explained that he will need time.

“Right now, I just feel that this weekend is a little bit too soon even if he arrives in London today and is able to train on Thursday morning.
“It takes a little bit of time to get to know your defenders, know their names, they need to get to know you a little bit more.
“In the heat of competition when you’ve only known these guys 24 or 48 hours, it gets a little bit much.
“I think he just needs a little bit of time.”
