Man Utd: Donny van de Beek transfer weighed up by pundit
Manchester United have made an initial approach about the possibility of signing Real Madrid's Sergio Reguilon as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has doubts over left-back Luke Shaw's long-term reliability.
Brandon Williams, 20, broke into the first team last season but he is still learning his trade.
United are therefore looking for a new full-back and feel Reguilon would be the perfect acquisition.
While on loan with Sevilla last season, the 23-year-old won the Europa League following a fantastic run that saw them knock United out in the semi-finals.
His performances in Europe have attracted interest from a host of top clubs.
Real are open to letting Reguilon leave because he has fallen down to third in the pecking order behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo.

Sevilla are interested in taking the defender on loan once again but Los Blancos feel as sale might be better suited to help them balance the books.
United would consider meeting the La Liga side's £27million asking price but they are not willing to give into Real's demand of having a buy-back clause.
However, that is not the only issue that is stopping Solskjaer making his second signing of the window.
Spanish publication Marca claims Reguilon has his heart set on making it at the Bernabeu and does not want to leave permanently.

"He played really well in the game against Ukraine, he actually got injured in the very last minute with a twisted ankle.
"But it wasn't just his ability with the ball going forward, it wasn't his overlapping runs and his speed, it was also his recovery runs.
"Winning the ball back so quickly, he was outstanding along with Ansu Fati."
