Liverpool: Thiago Alcantara would ‘strengthen squad’ says pundit
Liverpool reportedly have no plans to pursue a move to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer. Thiago will leave the Bundesliga champions when the transfer window opens after negotiations over a new contract broke down.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed they will not let Thiago leave for free next summer, prompting speculation on where the midfielder could go.
Reports have suggested he favours a move to the Premier League with champions Liverpool touted as his preferred destination.
It has also been claimed that Liverpool have even agreed personal terms on a £31million transfer, but the Reds have since knocked back the speculation.
Still, Jurgen Klopp will likely want to make some improvements to his squad in the summer transfer window with the hope of building on their title triumph.
Thiago may be available relatively cheap at £30million with one year remaining on his contract, but he reportedly doesn't fit club's transfer model.
Klopp is also said to be content with Naby Keita as his attacking midfielder next season while Curtis Jones is expected to be given more game time.
The Reds have been quiet in the past three transfer windows, with Takumi Minamino being the only player signed in that time for a fee worth £7.25m.
But Klopp clearly trusts the young stars coming through at Anfield with Jones, Neco Williams and Harvey Elliot in particula breaking into the first team this season.

Rhian Brewster has also been making a name for himself on loan at Swansea having bagged eight goals in just 16 appearances since his move in January.
He will return to Anfield in the summer and Klopp recently revealed plans to talk with the 20-year-old regarding his future.
“How it will be exactly next year we will talk about with him and his representatives,” he said.
