Man Utd: Fernandes is player of the season claims pundit
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes won and converted a controversial 27th-minute penalty against Aston Villa this evening but Roy Keane and Patrice Evra think the decision should not have stood.
Fernandes span on the ball as he entered the Villa penalty area and stepped onto Ezri Konsa's right foot.
The Portugal international hit the deck as he lost his balance and a VAR check refused to overrule referee Jon Moss' decision.
From the resulting spot kick Fernandes sent Pepe Reina the wrong way to put United 1-0 up.
But former defender Evra did not feel the penalty should have stood as Fernandes' momentum took him into the defender.
"My opinion is it is not a penalty," he told Sky Sports. "The defender is being a little bit clumsy because of his right leg he is trying to stop Bruno.

"I just feel like Bruno Fernandes went to his leg and he gave the penalty.
"If you look at the replay Bruno Fernandes stopped the ball and went into his leg but it was too late.
"I think it shouldn't be a penalty."
Roy Keane also agreed that United should not have been given the penalty.
