Man Utd: Martial's Man City strike was 'good' insists pundit
Manchester United star Anthony Martial has now bettered his best-ever seasonal goal tally for the club. The France international scored a stunning hat-trick as Sheffield United were beaten 3-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League showdown between the two teams. And it was a good afternoon for the 24-year-old, who continues to improve under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s guidance.
Martial has now scored 19 goals for Manchester United this season.
He found the net three times against Sheffield United and opened the scoring in the seventh minute, meeting Marcus Rashford’s powerful cross to covert the ball past Simon Moore in goal.
Martial then got his second goal for United shortly before the interval, finishing from close range after a pinpoint delivery from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, before successfully executing a chip for his third in the second half.
And he’s now bettered his best-ever tally for the club, which came in the 2015/2016 season under Louis van Gaal.
The Frenchman joined the club from Monaco in the summer of 2015, with Van Gaal making the Frenchman a replacement for Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.

They’re also still in contention for the FA Cup, with Premier League basement club Norwich City up next in that competition.
And United remain in the hunt to win the Europa League having beaten LASK 5-0 just before the coronavirus crisis brought football to a halt.
Meanwhile, speaking before the game against Sheffield United, Luke Shaw hailed Martial and tipped him to reach the very top of the sport.
“I think he’s been interchanging in different positions; sometimes he’s been on the left wing, but he’s had more of a key role this season as a striker,” he said.
“He’s got unbelievable talent and quality; he’s alongside Rashy in the sense that they can go all the way to being two of the best players in their positions.
“He’s scored a lot of goals this season, [and] been involved in quite a lot, so he’s clearly in a very confident way.
“It helps a lot now that his partnership with Bruno [Fernandes] has been flowing.
“They’ve been getting on really well off the pitch and that’s showing in how they play together on the pitch.
“They’ve been very creative. Of course, Anthony has had a really good season, but from what I see in training there’s still so much more to come from him, which is great for us as a club.”
