Man Utd: Solskjaer ‘has to be kept’ says Higginbotham
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a new winger when the transfer window reopens. Jadon Sancho is the club’s top target with the Borussia Dortmund star sparkling throughout the Bundesliga campaign. But reports in Spain claim they’re attentive to the future of Thomas Lemar. And, should they go for the France international, it would certainly be surprising.
There came a time where Lemar was tipped for the very top.
In the summer of 2017 he was wanted by Arsenal to replace Alexis Sanchez, who they expected to lose to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Lemar had helped Monaco win the Ligue 1 title that year, ending Paris Saint-Germain’s domination of the competition in the process.
And Arsenal saw him as a player capable of matching Sanchez’s exploits in north London, with the Chilean one of the best players in the world at the time.
In the time since, though, Lemar’s stock has fallen. The Atletico star has regressed as a player, despite the obvious talent he possesses.
His final season at Monaco saw him toil, with the Frenchman managing to find the net just three times across all competitions.

But that didn’t stop Atletico from spending big on the winger in the summer of 2018.
And, in the time since, Lemar’s stock has taken further blows with the France international a shadow of his old self.
He’s managed to score just four goals from 67 matches in La Liga, sparking talk he’ll be allowed to leave the Spanish capital when the transfer window opens again.
And Spanish newspaper AS claim United are keeping tabs on the forward’s situation ahead of the summer.
