Man Utd: Bruno Fernandes says ‘everything’ at club surprised him
Manchester United need further signings despite the immediate impact Bruno Fernandes has had, says Liverpool legend Graeme Souness. Fernandes had a stunning start to his United career before football was halted due to the coronavirus outbreak in March. The £46.6million signing from Sporting Lisbon scored two goals and assisted three in his first five Premier League appearances.
Souness is a big fan of Fernandes, who helped United extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 12 matches.
The former Scotland international hailed Fernandes' goalscoring record from his time at Sporting and reckons he has already shown he has what it takes to be a star man going forward for the Red Devils.
But Souness says Fernandes needs help from other new recruits for United to get to where they want to be.
"Modern midfield players today get away with passing it sideways and backwards too much," Souness told Sky Sports.

"And he always wants the ball. Playing for Man United, playing for any of the truly monster clubs out there, sometimes people can go into their shell a bit. He's not shown any signs of that.
"He'll be aware that coming from Sporting, they're one of the big teams in Portugal and whenever they play a team it's the opposition's cup final, so he'll be aware of that challenge that comes in every game, not just now and again.
"It's early for us to say that he's going to be the major influence that they were looking for at United, I think he will need help in that area.
"But he's certainly made a great start to his career.

"He came for a big price tag and he's dealt with that as well."
Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson says United fans should not get ahead of themselves with Fernandes.
"I wouldn't get too carried away," Robson said on ESPN FC.
"He's a good signing, but I'm not sure he's going to be a world-class player.
"He's a good signing for them at the moment, but just be careful it isn't the first few weeks where he's played well, he's got to do it for a couple more years."
