Man Utd: Higginbotham mocked for all-time Premier League XI
Manchester United fan and former defender Danny Higginbotham has been mocked by his old team-mate Craig Burley after selecting his all-time greatest Premier League XI. Higginbotham came through the youth ranks at United in the late 1990s but only made seven first-team appearances before going on to play for the likes of Derby County, Southampton and Stoke. But he is still an avid United supporter and named seven former Red Devils players in his all-time Premier League side.

"He's only gone with an all-Man United midfield! [Frank] Lampard could maybe have a shout.
"I mean it's difficult, I understand. Giggs was just tremendous, Keane's in there, it's hard not to put those players in that you've put in.
"But just for the sake of a little bit of leeway, you might have shoehorned somebody else into that middle of the park, to just sort of camouflage it a little bit, do you know what I mean?"
But Burley also suggested another United player who could have made Higginbotham's team.

"I'll tell you one player I think gets overlooked in the full-back position, I know you both have gone for [Ashley] Cole, and he didn't see all the Premier League era clearly, but Denis Irwin," Burley added.
"Denis Irwin for me, and it is Man United so I know you're going to agree with me, but Denis Irwin was one of the most underrated players, just absolutely fantastic.
"But he doesn't get the recognition in the full-back position I think that he deserves, certainly from the outside."
Higginbotham stuck with former Arsenal and Chelsea left-back Cole though, who lined up alongside John Terry at the back.

"I agree with that definitely but I'm just looking at Ashley Cole and I look at his battles that he used to have with Ronaldo," Higginbotham replied.
"There's not many players I think actually got the better of Ronaldo but it was something Ashley Cole did on a regular basis.
"He was an incredible player, athletic, up and down the pitch consistently."
Higginbotham's side finished off with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and the league's all-time top scorer Alan Shearer up front.

"People talk about [Sergio] Aguero now when you look a bit higher up the pitch and people will be arguing saying Aguero should be in there," he added.
"One of the things I would say now is Aguero is a phenomenal player, world-class player, has been for so long now for Man City, but I do believe when you look at defenders when the likes of Henry and Shearer were playing were a higher quality of what they are now in terms of keeping the ball out the back of the net."
