Man Utd: Fernandes has been 'the inspiration' says pundit
Manchester United legend Bryan Robson believes Bruno Fernandes has what it takes to become a club great. Fernandes only joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January for an initial fee of £46.6million. But he made an immediate impact before football was suspended in England due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Fernandes scored two goals and assisted three in his first five appearances in the Premier League and helped United extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 12 matches.
Robson believes the United legend the 25-year-old is most similar to is Paul Scholes and has backed him to have a stellar career at Old Trafford.
“[Bruno looks] a special player,” Robson told talkSPORT.
“He’s got a fantastic attitude. I’ve met him a few times, I’ve seen him at the training ground.

“He mixes really well with the lads and you can see why he was captain of Sporting.
“What a talent he is. When I look at him he’s not like a Roy Keane, Paul Ince or Nicky Butt type of player, for me he’s more like Paul Scholes.
“He’s brilliant at getting in little pockets in between the defence and midfield, he gets into these areas, gets himself space and he’s got terrific vision where he sees a pass and performs a pass like Paul Scholes could, and he can score a goal.
“Hopefully he proves me right and goes on to be another Paul Scholes for Manchester United.”
