Manchester City have been backed to win the Champions League this season by former Citizens midfielder Michael Brown, who insisted that the team are still favourites to be crowned European champions, after Pep Guardiola's side beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last month.

Manchester City are favourites to win the Champions League this season, claimed former Citizens star Michael Brown. Pep Guardiola's side won 2-1 in the first leg of their European clash against Real Madrid last month, before the season was suspended to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne scored at the Bernabeu to hand City a historic victory in the Spanish capital in February.
Guardiola engineered a superb tactical performance to hand City the advantage across the two legs.
Assuming the European campaign gets back underway after the coronavirus pandemic crisis, Brown has backed City to lift the trophy at the end of the season.
City went into the tie after losing two consecutive matches in all competitions, but the adversity they came through is simply a testament of their character, he added.

Before UEFA suspended all European competitions, half of the Round of 16 ties were completed.
Liverpool and Tottenham were both knocked out of the Champions League, while Chelsea are 3-0 down in their tie against Bayern Munich.
City would appear to be the most likely Premier League side to win Europe's elite competition this season.
