Leicester City players train ahead of Chelsea clash
The world’s oldest cup competition continues this week with just eight teams remaining. The FA Cup quarter-finals have served up some intriguing matches for fans to enjoy.
The FA has reduced replays in the latter stages of the tournament in order to ease fixture congestion.
This was initially planned for the 2019/20 campaign but was introduced last season due to the progression of English clubs into the knockout stages of European competitions.
FA chief executive Martin Glenn said of the change: "The Emirates FA Cup remains at the heart of English football and this change adds to the excitement of the competition and will benefit the wider game in general.
"In a demanding calendar and with increased pressures on fans, it is important we move with the times and consider new innovations.
"While fully respecting tradition and history, this new development will help the Cup retain its status as a much-loved and world-renowned competition."
