In fact, the FA Cup third round alone is more valuable than winning the Carabao Cup with a prize of £135,000 up for grabs.
However, while the Carabao Cup’s purse may not seem like a huge amount, this does not include money generated through gate receipts and television deals.
Unlike league games, the total sum collected from a Carabao Cup tie is split 45 per cent each way, regardless of where the fixture is played.
The final at Wembley last season saw £2m collected at the gates, meaning each club took home £1m.
