Man Utd: Fernandes has made ‘positive start’ says coach
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left fearing for his job after the club failed to secure the signings he requested during the January transfer window. That’s according to a report in The Mirror, who claim the Norwegian told Ed Woodward of the players he wanted to have join the club. Only Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo joined the club during the winter window.

Ighalo also joined on loan from Shanghai Shenhua on a six-month loan after United scrambled around to sign a striker before the deadline.
But Solskjaer reportedly gave a list of four players he wanted vice-chairman Woodward to sign in the January window, and the club only brought in one of them.
This has left many questioning whether Solskjaer’s job is at risk, with Mauricio Pochettino believed to be waiting in the wings if the Norwegian is fired.
The same report from the Mirror claims Woodward has reassured Solskjaer of his job, but has privately told United officials that he will have no problem sacking the former striker if needed.

Meanwhile, ex-United star Paul Parker told the club to go out and try to sign Maddison instead of Grealish, even though the Leicester side would be more expensive.
”Manchester United need to sign proven players but the one who has proven himself [Maddison] is not going to leave Leicester,” he told the Metro.
“He’s not going to move unless Leicester get offered ridiculous money, like they were for [Harry] Maguire. Leicester couldn’t believe their luck with that one.
“So you go with Maddison [over Grealish] but can they get a deal? Grealish for me is still potential, there’s been a lot of talk and he hasn’t really done it on a consistent basis."
