Manchester United hero Wes Brown believes the Red Devils can still overcome the odds and qualify for the Champions League next season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
The Red Devils are facing an uphill battle to finish in the top four this season.
Results have been inconsistent recently, despite a comfortable 4-0 win over basement boys Norwich.
They have suffered six league defeats this campaign along with seven draws, and face their toughest game of the season on Sunday against runaway league leaders Liverpool.
But former United defender Brown believes they still have what it takes to leapfrog Chelsea into the top four.

“I do, I honestly do,” he told The Metro when asked if he thinks United can qualify for the Champions League.

“It’s going to be hard but I know these lads can do it. When they play well they can beat anyone.
“They just need to do it more consistently.

“That is my aim for the team this season, to get into that Champions League fourth spot. We’re capable of doing that.
“You need to go on a run and be more consistent but five points isn’t a lot and this team is more than capable of doing that.”
United need to be careful of the teams behind them, too.
If they suffer defeat on Sunday against Liverpool - who have only failed to win once this campaign, against United - they face being overtaken by either Sheffield United or Wolves.
The Blades, who have been the surprise package of the season, face Arsenal today - 25 hours before United face Liverpool.
Chris Wilder’s side are two points behind United, whereas Wolves are three points behind the Red Devils.
Wolves face Southampton this afternoon, but are unlikely to leapfrog United due to their inferior goal difference.
Unless they overturn an eight-goal differential, they will remain below United despite being level on points.
