Bruno Fernandes: Pundits discuss Manchester United deal
Sporting Lisbon chief Hugo Viana has phoned the agent of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo as he looks to get a deal done for the Argentine this month, says transfer expert Duncan Castles. Sporting want Rojo in part exchange for midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who looks set to move in the opposite direction to United.

“On top of that Rojo has an offer from Turkey which is interesting to him, which would be financially beneficial to him, and which would involve a transfer fee coming in to Manchester United.
“So in a sense they have an option of ‘Well we’ll sell Rojo to Turkey and use that money to put it towards the Bruno Fernandes deal’.
“Despite that, my information as of [Sunday] night was that Sporting were still working to get Rojo involved, that Hugo Viana, the sports director, had called Rojo’s agent to see if they could come to an agreement to bring him back to the club.

“I think it’s more making a public statement that even though they lose their best player, they bring an Argentina international who had a reasonable status while he was in Portugal as part of the deal.”
Rojo has been out of favour at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, making just nine appearances in all competitions.
His last outing came back in November, partly due to a muscle injury keeping him out of action.
