Chelsea: Frank Lampard refuses to discuss transfer plans
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has said that David Alaba “is not for sale” after reports emerged that Chelsea are interested in signing the defender. Frank Lampard is keen to sign a specialist left-back after having to move club captain Cesar Azpilicueta to the opposite side of defence in recent weeks.
Other options in the position, Marcos Alonso and Emerson, have struggled with injury at times this campaign and have both been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea emerged as surprise suitors for Alaba on Saturday night, according to a report published in The Mirror.
It claimed that Blues chiefs were lining up a £60million offer for the experienced left-back, who has 18 months remaining on his Allianz Arena contract.
The 27-year-old has won eight Bundesliga titles and one Champions League with Bayern since graduating from the academy in 2009.
