The Serpent Queen season 2 release date and how to watch in the UK

The Serpent Queen season two will soon make its debut with a new home for UK viewers.

Based on the book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France by Leonie Frieda, the period drama delves into the life of one of France’s longest-serving and ruthless rulers, having governed for 50 years. 

While the first series saw Catherine marry into the French court at 14-years-old, the second season shows Catherine (played by Samantha Morton) becoming the Queen Regent of France as her son reaches maturity. 

How to watch The Serpent Queen season 2 in the UK

When The Serpent Queen first arrived in 2022, the period drama was home on Starz in the US and Starzplay in the UK. 

The streaming service then had a brand relaunch in Europe, Canada and the Middle East where it was changed from Starzplay to Lionsgate+.

But reportedly due to the oversaturated market when it comes to streamers, Lionsgate+ was closed down in the UK earlier this year. 

This left many subscribers unsure about what would happened to some of its most popular content, including shows such as The Stand, Outlander and The Great.

Thankfully, these series, as well as The Serpent Queen, found a new home on MGM+ via Prime Video Channels on Amazon Prime. 

So from Sunday, July 14, this is where UK fans will be able to tune in to The Serpent Queen season two.

How to watch The Serpent Queen season two in the US

While Lionsgate+ is no more, Starz still very much exists in the United States so there are no changes for those across the pond.

Season two of The Serpent Queen will be shown on Starz in the US, from its initial release date of July 12. 

Much like the first series, the second outing is going to consist of eight episodes with instalments predicted to once again come out weekly. 

The Serpent Queen season two premieres on Friday, July 12, on Starz in the US and on Sunday, July 14 on MGM+ via Prime Video Channels in the UK.
