Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen has told the club that he want to leave in January, after months of speculation surrounding his future. The demand from Eriksen will be a blow to Manchester United’s hopes of signing the want-away star, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hoping to add him to his squad in the summer, in a free transfer.
Eriksen revealed that he wanted to leave Tottenham at the start of last summer.
But, clubs that were interested in signing the Denmark international were priced out of a deal.
Eriksen’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and he’s made it clear to Spurs that he won’t be renewing his current deal.
Now, the midfielder has told Tottenham that he wants to leave north London as soon as possible, with the January transfer window set to begin, according to The Athletic.

If they managed to agree a summer transfer for the midfielder, he’d be joining them at Old Trafford on a free transfer, as his contract would have expired at Spurs.
Back in June, Eriksen revealed his intention to leave Tottenham during the summer.
“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new,” Eriksen told Danish newspaper, Ekstra Bladet, at the time.
“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay.

Meanwhile, Mourinho admitted that he knows what Eriksen wants to do during the upcoming transfer window.
After Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Norwich City at the weekend, Mourinho said: “I don’t want to speak about it.
“Because I speak with him, we are so open with each other because we trust each other in the sense that we keep to ourselves.
“Obviously I share with my boss, Christian knows that, every conversation we have I have to share with my boss, but it’s just between us, so I don’t want to say much.”
