Timo Werner should 'transfer to Liverpool' says Hislop
Chelsea have identified Timo Werner as an option in January as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his forward line for the second half of the season. The RB Leipzig star has impressed again in the Bundesliga this term and has attracted interest from around Europe.
Lampard’s side beat Spurs on Sunday but they have improved under Jose Mourinho.
Interest in Werner also comes in part due to his relative low release clause of £27m. He signed a new deal at Leipzig in August which Kicker reported saw his clause cut to €30m.
However with Leipzig flying high in Germany he may want to see the season out. They top the Bundesliga at the halfway stage with a two point lead over Borussia Monchengladbach and are four points clear of Bayern, and seven ahead of Dortmund.
Werner, 23, is a big part of the system and can play through the middle or in one of the wider forward roles.
Leipzig have been tipped to eventually replace him Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg, however Manchester United are keen on him and are expected to win the race for his signing this January.

“Yes, we met with him. We are interested in the player, great interest,” Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff told German broadcaster Sport1.
“He listened to it, logically, and is very open to a move. He would like to change (clubs) in summer at the latest.
“It is not easy. There's Manchester United, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund. There are a few other clubs as well.
“Of course, our club also has certain guard rails and limits.

“And I have named the clubs that compete, and there may be salary regions that we don't want to go into. (The fee) is still manageable, but the package does not only consist of the transfer fee.
“It's the same cliche again: we can’t buy everything and we can’t get everything and we can’y do everything.
“Unfortunately, we can't, otherwise Haaland would already be with us.”
