Arsenal: Mikel Arteta ‘is ready’ to manage says Pep Guardiola
Arsenal could announce the appointment of Mikel Arteta as their next manager on Thursday, according to the founder of Gunners fan channel AFTV, Robbie Lyle. Arteta is now the overwhelming favourite to become the next Arsenal boss. Gunners chiefs met with the Spaniard on Sunday night at his home in Manchester to discuss his appointment.
Arteta is the current assistant first-team coach at Manchester City and Arsenal have contacted City over the availability of the 37-year-old, according to Sky Sports.
And speaking about the news on AFTV on Monday, Lyle claims he has heard Arsenal are looking to confirm Arteta’s arrival on Thursday.
“I’ve heard a little rumour that there’s going to be some sort of announcement, possibly Thursday,” Lyle said.
If that is proven to be correct, Arteta’s first game in charge will be against his former club Everton on Saturday at Goodison Park (12.30pm).

Arteta spent five years as a player at Arsenal before retiring in 2016, winning two FA Cups under Arsene Wenger.
The former Rangers and Everton midfielder was the Gunners’ club captain for the final two years of his time at the club.
And ex-Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas is excited by the potential of Arteta being the permanent successor to the sacked Unai Emery.
“Obviously Mikel Arteta has been a captain at the club, he knows how to lead the team, in my opinion he’s worked under the best coach on the planet,” Nicholas told Sky Sports News.
