Chelsea: Tomori has shown that he has real quality says Lampard
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could have agreed to send Fikayo Tomori out on loan before David Luiz joined Arsenal in August. The Brazilian moved across London for a fee of £8million which left the Blues needing to keep their young prospect at the club.
Goal report that the 21-year-old was on the brink of a move to Everton before his team-mate’s late switch, which could explain why the Toffees ended the window short of numbers at the back.
Tomori has impressed in defence in the absence of Antonio Rudiger so far this season, making 16 appearances so far this season and scoring in the win over Wolves.
The England international is now said to be in talks over a new contract in a show of support after his displays, with Frank Lampard delighted over his development.
He said: “The progression is huge, but the main thing I saw in him was work ethic. He quietly goes about his business. He trains hard.

“Long may that continue, because there is more to come from him.”
Tomori’s performances under Lampard for both Derby and Chelsea even caught the eye of England boss Gareth Southgate, who handed him his full international debut against Kosovo in November.
“He’s been in our development squads now for a couple of years,” said Southgate earlier this season ahead of his debut.
“It’s been a good experience for him and he’s won at youth level which is important for us.
