Arsenal: Pundits discuss Aubameyang's transfer options
Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang “wants to sign” a new contract but only if the club’s new manager can convince him the right calibre of player will be signed in the transfer windows, reckons former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood. Aubameyang’s contract at Arsenal expires at the end of next season and reports have linked him with a move away from the club.
The Gabon international has once again been in fine form for the Gunners, with only Leicester’s Jamie Vardy scoring more than him in the Premier League this season.
He netted the third goal in the 3-1 win over West Ham on Monday - Arsenal’s first win in 10 matches in all competitions.
Newcastle and England legend Alan Shearer believes it will soon be time for Arsenal to decide whether to sell Aubameyang to avoid losing him for nothing in 18 months.
“The problem Arsenal have got with him now is he’s got 18 months left on his contract,” Shearer told Premier League Productions.

“They’re going to have to make a decision on him because if he’s not going to sign that contract, they would have to sell him in the summer.”
Shearer’s former Blackburn team-mate Sherwood responded by saying Arsenal is the perfect club for Aubameyang.
But Sherwood admits the 30-year-old will want the next manager, whoever that may be, to promise big improvement in the squad in the coming windows before he puts pen to paper on a contract extension.
“I think [Arsenal is] a great club for [Aubameyang],” Sherwood said.

“I think he wants to sign but he’s going to watch very, very carefully at what happens between now and the appointment of the new manager.
“[If it is] someone he’s happy with and they convince him they’re going to move into the transfer market and get better players to the football club, I think he stays. I think it’s a great club for him.
“You would hope so [Arsenal have learned their lesson from the past]. But their recruitment needs to be better.
“He’s seen a few transfer windows, Aubameyang, and he’s seen poor players coming into the club.
