United ran out 2-1 victors on the day and Alexander-Arnold looked back on the afternoon with The Athletic.
“Yeah, [that’s] the toughest [game I’ve had] in terms of a direct opponent and someone getting on top of me in professional football,” he said.
“I’d say I underestimated him. It was a massive learning curve for me. It was something that I hated happening.
“As a Liverpool player, it’s probably the worst game of the season to perform like that. But when things like that happen you have to learn from them.”

Alexander-Arnold was pulled at 80 minutes into the game as Jurgen Klopp sought an equaliser but the right-back is now central to his side’s creativity.
Last season he broke the record for the amount of assists (12) provided by a defender in a Premier League season and the 21-year-old is widely considered one of the best full-backs in the world.
Asked whether bad days like he had against Rashford can be used as motivation, the Liverpudlian said: “Yeah, you have to. It was a wake-up call.
