Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes centre-back claim after providing update on Rodri injury
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola fears Rodri could be out for up to a month.
Man City: Guardiola reveals Rodri could be injured for a month
Pep Guardiola admitted that Rodri could face up to a month out of action after suffering an injury on Tuesday night.
The Manchester City midfielder was taken off during their 5-1 win over Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Spanish star appeared to be suffering from a hamstring problem, and was replaced by John Stones.
It was the latest in a string of injury problems for the Premier League champions, with Rodri already having to play out of position at centre-back due to injuries elsewhere in the squad.
And now, Rodri could face a month out, leaving Guardiola with a selection headache.
“Tomorrow [Wednesday] we will know," the boss said.
“Hopefully he will be between 10 days - if it's not broken.
“If it is broken it will be three weeks or one month."
Stones is continuing to recover from a muscular injury, and admitted after coming on for Rodri that it was just good to be back on the pitch.
He told reporters post-match that he wanted to see Rodri back soon.
“We came up against a difficult team. We did our research, we knew they were a really aggressive team and they started like that,” said Stones.
“We got a good goal at a good time and then the lads did the rest of the work up top.”
“They’re two top players playing in a position they’re not used to.
“In his first season here, Rodri has slotted in brilliantly so credit to him, and credit to Dino [Fernandinho] for helping him along.
“We work in it in training so we can adapt and we can almost play it blind.
“It’s good to be back on the pitch on a personal note but we’ll have to see how Rodri’s injury is.”
