Rangers: Andy Gray reacts to club being top of the table
Rangers beat Hamilton 5-0 after Celtic slipped to a 2-0 defeat away to Livingston, and Andy Gray showed his excitement on live TV.
Gray said live on beIN SPORTS while looking at the updated league table: “Can you just leave that there for a minute.”
Presenter Richard Keys replied: “After all the turmoil at ibrox in the last few years, they’re back where they started.”
Before Gray responded: “Well we feel like we’re back where we belong, obviously you being a neutral you have to choose your words carefully.”
Gers forward Jermain Defoe repaid Steven Gerrard’s faith of his manager by scoring a hat-trick with Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic grabbing a goal apiece.
Rangers are now back on top for the first time since a short spell last Christmas, and will be there until after the international break as a minimum.
“It is very early days in the season. I’ve said to the players to not get carried away,” Gerrard said.
“There is a lot of hard work, we still have to improve, we still have to grow.
“But the answer is yes, we are better and stronger than last year.
“The XI and the squad is stronger. We have people coming back from injury and are in a good place.”
Despite the negativity around the Celtic camp after letting a four point lead on their rivals slip in two weeks, Scott Brown has discussed the positives that can be taken from the loss.
He said: “We always expect a reaction.
“It’s disappointing, especially going into the international break when you have a couple of weeks until your next game - but sometimes it’s good for you as well.
“We’ve had a wake-up call before when we’ve lost the lead during the season and we have then managed to bounce back.
“This team has that willingness to win games. It wasn’t our day, we didn’t perform as well as we can.
“But it’s a long season and we know we can do better."
