And Van Dijk’s new contract will see his salary nearly doubled as he has agreed to commit the next six-years of his career to playing at Anfield.
The Dutchman was previously on £125,000-a-week and according to the Mirror, his new contact will pay him closer to £200,000-a-week.
The new deal also increased his basic pay, resulting in the player being less dependant on add-ons such as clean sheets and appearances.
And although it is understood Liverpool had been in discussions with Van Dijk over a new deal before Maguire sealed his exit, the move by the England defender to Old Trafford reportedly helped expedite a deal between Van Dijlk’s representatives and Liverpool.
