Lee Dixon reveals why he is ‘scared’ about Arsenal for Tottenham clash
Former Arsenal right-back reckons Unai Emery’s side can be exploited by Tottenham when out of possession in the Premier League clash.
Arsenal: Lee Dixon previews derby clash with Tottenham
Tottenham are hurting but a north London derby against Arsenal may be the perfect match to kick their season into life, claims Gunners legend Lee Dixon.
Arsenal welcome Tottenham to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in what always proves to be a classic encounter.
Both teams are coming in on the back of their first defeats of the campaign, with Arsenal going down 3-1 to Liverpool last Saturday and Tottenham suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United.
Arsenal still sit second in the Premier League table heading into the weekend though, six spots above their rivals.
That will just scare me a little bit because of what can happen to Arsenal when they haven’t got the ball
Tottenham beat Aston Villa 3-1 on the opening day but trailed 1-0 for a long period of the match before scoring three late goals.
They then drew 2-2 with champions Manchester City despite Pep Guardiola’s side dominating possession and having over 30 attempts at goal.
Dixon admits Arsenal, who did not lose in the league to Spurs last season, have the ascendency heading into Sunday’s match.
However, he claims he is scared Arsenal will be too gung-ho on the day and reckons the fixture could help bring the best out of their opponents.
“Maybe, yeah [Arsenal will play with a back three],” Dixon told Premier League Productions.
“I think what could stack against Arsenal a little bit is the fact that Tottenham are not playing well.
“They played very well in this game last year, so they might go all in.
“That will just scare me a little bit because of what can happen to Arsenal when they haven’t got the ball.
“They did press them last year but I think the impetus is with them now and sometimes that scares me a little bit with Arsenal.
“I’m not confident when they haven’t got the ball and I think Tottenham are hurting right now.
“I think they need a shake up and I think this could be the little pet that they need.”
