But Shaw now faces missing the Saints game, as well as international duty with England and massive Premier League clashes against Arsenal and Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has been struck by injury on a few occasions during his three years with United, including a horror leg break in a Champions League game with PSV.
Shaw has started all of United’s games this season and his absence is likely to cause manager Solskjaer an unneeded selection headache.

United brought on Ashley Young to replace Shaw in the Palace game and it’s now likely that he continues in the former Southampton player’s absence.
Shaw isn’t the only man missing from Solskjaer’s backline, as Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot remain sidelined.
"Diogo is injured, he’ll be out for a little while, hopefully he’ll be back for [the games] after the international break,” the Norwegian said.

Solskjaer could also look to either Marcos Rojo or Matteo Darmian, who both, at one point, looked likely to leave United at some point before the transfer window for European clubs closes next week.
United have picked up four points from their first three games this season and travel to St Mary's on Saturday for their clash with Southampton, where they need a victory after drawing at Wolves and losing to Palace.
