Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was like David Moyes against Wolves - he must change
'DITHERING Dave' was a cruel nickname afforded to David Moyes both before and during his spell at Manchester United. But it could easily have been re-configured for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Wolves on Monday.
Man Utd vs Wolves: The boys want to 'learn' says Solskjaer
Manchester United have had a solid start to the new Premier League season so far. If you’d said to fans whether they’d have been happy to take four points off Chelsea and Wolves, they would likely have agreed.
Some were left disheartened by what happened at Molineux on Monday. United produced a display that was significantly better than anything they managed against Wolves last season but, because of Ruben Neves’ stunning wonder strike, they were forced to settle for a point.
The performances of Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were shining lights. The displays of Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw, not so much.
It was a day where no United player really stood out but the team looked good. Solid, and potent in attack.
Solskjaer in the dugout was not so inspired, however, as he took a leaf from Moyes' book.
The United boss deserves credit for the way his side has started. They look, at the very least, much more enterprising and way happier than they looked 12 months ago.
But had he acted quicker, a point against Wolves may very well have become three.
United needed fresh legs immediately after Neves’ goal. They needed something to change the tide of the game as players, particularly those in the middle of the park, waned.
But, like Moyes used to, Solskjaer persevered too much. And when Juan Mata came on, it was with a feeling of bemusement among the travelling fans.

By the end of the match, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay looked worn out. Pogba, in particular, didn’t look in the mood to huff and puff all evening long.
Pereira should, really, have replaced the France international. Barring one lung-bursting run into the box, he had a really quiet night.
Solskjaer cannot afford to dither like Moyes. He runs the risk of United drawing games, rather than winning them, due to a hesitancy to take a risk.
And that’s not the sort of mentality that will turn his side into Premier League winners anytime soon.
