Man Utd star hints at big transfer news ‘next week’ as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives update
ROMELU LUKAKU has told fans they will know more ‘next week’ as the Manchester United striker continues to be linked with a move away.
Romelu Lukaku trains in Perth with Manchester United
Lukaku, 26, has been strongly touted to join Inter Milan and was absent for United’s 2-0 friendly win over Perth Glory on Saturday.
And he fuelled the speculation surrounding his future when asked to comment by reporters while out in Australia with the rest of the squad.
“You guys will know something next week,” he said.
His comments come amid claims he is set to stay at Old Trafford because of Inter’s reluctance to meet United’s valuation.
They paid £75million to sign him from Everton in 2016 and are looking to make a profit on a player who has scored 42 goals in 96 appearances during his time at the club.
Inter are struggling to raise the funds as they risk breaking Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations if they spend big this summer.
The Italians have already paid around £45million to sign Nicolo Barella but could raise more cash with the sales of Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan.
Manager Antonio Conte would love to take Lukaku as he tried to sign him while in charge of Chelsea.
Reports also claim the player is desperate to leave but is becoming increasingly resigned to the fact that he might have to stay put.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also asked if the Belgian would be staying but refused to give a definitive answer and said he hoped he would be available when they play Leeds on Wednesday,
“There’s been so many speculations but, yes, he should be fit for Wednesday,” he said.
“He trained with the team yesterday, but it wasn’t useful today to risk him, to be fair.”
Inter Milan will need to 'move assets' to get Lukaku says expert
On a potential transfer, he added: “Well, let’s see when the season starts. We’ve not had any bids that we’re considering.
“All my conversations with the players I will keep confidential. That’s between us.
“That’s my privilege and I can promise them that I won’t tell (about) our discussions.”
