The rare thing Aaron Wan-Bissaka has that makes him perfect for Manchester United - pundit
MANCHESTER UNITED target Aaron Wan-Bissaka has the rare commodity of loving defending as a full-back, claims former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner.
Manchester United are keen on signing Crystal Palace star Wan-Bissaka this summer.
Palace have already turned down an offer believed to be in the region of £50million for the England Under-21 international.
But Mariner believes he is worth every penny and will be a top addition for United if they can complete a deal.
“I like [Wan-Bissaka],” Mariner said on ESPN FC.
He defends very well which is something that we don’t see too often nowadays
“I like the player, I think he’s got a lot of growth in him.
“He gets up and down very well, he defends very well which is something that we don’t see too often nowadays.
“He likes to defend, he closes the ball down.
“To me he’s one of the better right-backs that Manchester United could go after.
“If he’s available I say go after him.”
Former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop agrees Wan-Bissaka is the type of player United need at right-back.
Ashley Young spent the majority of last season in that position for the Red Devils.
“It’s a needed move,” Hislop said.
“It’s a lot of money for a right-back, we were criticising Manchester City similarly a year or two ago in their own acquisition.
“But this is a player and the type of player that Manchester United need and have needed for quite some time.
“He only gets better and at 20 years old it stands Manchester United in good stead.”
Wan-Bissaka has made 46 appearances in total for Palace since his debut in February 2018.
