The report also states that although there seems to be a fair bit of trepidation floating around Newcastle at the moment because of their proposed takeover, that shouldn’t get in United’s way.
Manager Rafa Benitez’s future is also up in the air and could play a big part in Longstaff’s decision making.
Longstaff was impressive for Newcastle last season. The 21-year-old went on a run of 11 straight starts under Benitez before sustaining a knee injury in March.
Solskjaer doesn’t seem to be worried about the potential long-term affects of Longstaff’s knee problem, though.
