Man Utd transfer news: Bruno Fernandes race latest as Liverpool and Man City circle
MANCHESTER UNITED “remain ahead” in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes while Liverpool and Manchester City stay potential suitors.
Although United face competition from their fiercest rivals - Liverpool and City - they are best placed to sign Fernandes, according to Italian media outlet Radio Rossonera.
United, unlike their English competitors, cannot offer Champions League football next campaign but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to acquire young, malleable talent to form the side around.
Fernandes, who helped Portugal to their UEFA Nations League triumph on Sunday, spoke recently about the allure of the Premier League.
"Of course it is possible to continue in Sporting," the midfielder told Portuguese station Radio Renascenca.

There are dreams that I would like to fulfil and one of them is to play in England
Bruno Fernandes
"I do not know what the truth of what has been in the newspapers is.
"I will have time now to know this, but I'm good at Sporting.
"I never said that I want to leave, but there are dreams that I would like to fulfil and one of them is to play in England.
"It is not now the English clubs and interested parties appear that I say this. It was always a dream.
