Celtic star Odsonne Edouard reveals his inspiration
A leak of confidential documents revealed that Celtic are expecting to field approaches for Edouard this summer.
A dossier circulating on social media and fans forums showed a list of the Hoops’ transfer targets as well as the contract status of first-team players.
Edouard has only been at Parkhead for a year after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in a club-record £9million transfer last summer following a successful year-long loan.
The 21-year-old netted 22 goals across all competitions in his first year as a permanent player, following on from 11 while a loanee the previous year.
The France youth international also scored a brace in the Scottish Cup final as Neil Lennon’s charges beat Hearts at Hampen Park to secure a third successive Scottish treble.
But Celtic believe approaches will be made for the centre forward this summer.
Express Sport understands Brentford’s Neal Maupay is a potential replacement target.
Maupay is on the Scottish champions’ radar after a 28-goal season for Brentford in which he scored 25 times in the Championship.

The 22-year-old also added nine assists in a terrific second season at Griffin Park and is believed to have caught the eye of numerous clubs across Europe.
Maupay joined Brentford for £1.6m from Saint-Etienne two years ago but it is thought Celtic could be priced out of a move.
That is because Aston Villa are one of the clubs highly interested in the Bees’ forward, with manager Dean Smith having been the man to bring Maupay to Brentford when he was in charge of the London club in 2017.
Frenchman Maupay is under contract for another two years with Brentford and the club may demand a price tag to force Celtic to look elsewhere.
