United have long been linked with the defensive midfielder who has enjoyed a stunning campaign for Diego Simeone’s side.
Arsenal are also said to be tracking him along with Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Partey’s agent, Daniel Jimenez, recently addressed the speculation about Inter and revealed he had a release clause in his contract that was lower than many expected.
“I can say that right now, I haven’t talked to anyone, even if Inter are a top club,” he said.
“There’s a €50m release clause in his contract, a figure that’s cheap for a player like Thomas.
“We’ll wait for the season to end and then we’ll see.”
United are looking to sign a new holding midfielder in the summer as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plots a dramatic overhaul of his struggling squad.
Tough-tackling Partey could slot straight into the side with Nemanja Matic’s place in midfield looking increasingly more vulnerable.
The Ghana international is incredibly versatile and has filled in at right-back at times this season.
He could also be a slightly cheaper midfield option for United than Declan Rice.
Express Sport understands Rice is one of their top targets and Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has already admitted he could leave the London Stadium in the summer.
However, Rice is likely to cost closer to £70m and is also being linked with Manchester City.
Elsewhere, United are looking to add at least one winger and Swansea star Daniel James appears close to a completing a move to Old Trafford.
Reports claim Wilfried Zaha is also interested in a return to the club just four years after he left.
A new centre-back remains a priority and they continue to be linked with Harry Maguire, Kalidou Koulibaly and Toby Alderweireld.
