Arsenal and Manchester United backed for summer transfer battle over Leicester star
LEICESTER will struggle to sign Youri Tielemans on a permanent deal - because he is easily good enough for any of the Premier League top six.
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal forward Paul Merson.
Tielemans joined Leicester on loan from Monaco in January for the remainder of the season.
The Belgium international has scored three goals and assisted four in his first 11 Premier League appearances.
Monaco are said to rate the 21-year-old midfielder at around £40million.
If I was Arsenal or Man United, I’d be looking at him all day long, all day long
Merson says undoubtedly Leicester will want to try and make the loan deal a permanent one.
However, he also reckons he would fit in at former club Arsenal and also Manchester United.
“I think so [a bigger club will look to sign Tielemans],” Merson said.
“I think he’s special, I really do, I think this kid is a top, top player, I really do.
“The only thing is he’s worked with Brendan [Rodgers] the last so many weeks or couple of months.
“Surely they’re getting into his earhole about signing and they’ve got to get his lad signed.
“I think he can go to any of the top four, or top six.
“If I was Arsenal or Man United, I’d be looking at him all day long, all day long.
“Even Man City, even at Man City I’d be looking, I think he’s that good.
“He’s only young, how old is he? 21? 21, wow, wow.”
