Arsenal: Emery needs to sort out 'worrying' defence says pundit
Arsenal have lost their last three Premier League games to leave their top four hopes hanging by a thread.
They are in the semi-final of the Europa League, where they face Valencia, but clearly have big issues that need addressing in the squad.
Merson reckons Arsenal need to bring in up to seven new players in the summer transfer window.
But he is also concerned at some of the team selections Emery has made of late, especially in recent away league defeats where he has picked Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil.
He went to Everton, he played Mkhitaryan, he played Ozil and they got the floor wiped, they got slaughtered
Paul Merson on Arsenal boss Unai Emery
“I’m worried, I am worried,” Merson said on Sky Sports.
“I do like the manager but in the last few weeks I’ve started to worry.
“He went to Everton, he played Mkhitaryan, he played Mesut Ozil and they got the floor wiped, they got slaughtered.
“And then two weeks later he goes to Wolves and he plays the same two against a team like that.

“Surely sooner or later you’ve got to look and go ‘right, we’re playing against a Wolves team that if you have a go at Wolves, they’ll give anybody a football match’.
“They’ve been beaten twice by Huddersfield. You look at their record against teams who sit back and make it tight.
“Now, why is the manager not seeing that? Why is he not seeing that? It’s a worry for me.
