Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus 'got away with risk' says pundit
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid back in July, choosing to turn his back on the La Liga giants after nine successful years in Spain.
Surprisingly, however, Los Blancos failed to fork out on a marquee replacement last summer, despite interest in Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and PSG duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Ronaldo has flourished at Juventus in his first campaign in Italy, scoring 26 goals to propel the Serie A giants to the cusp of an eighth straight title triumph.
And Zidane has now admitted that nobody who Real sign will ever be able to replicate Ronaldo’s achievements.
"Cristiano's situation is one that we can't change, he's gone,” the Frenchman said.
“We can sign any player and whoever comes in won't do all that Cristiano did.
“That's the way things go in life, he did some great things at this club and we were delighted with him.
“He's now in another chapter in his career and I'm tired of repeating myself because we're not going to win anything at the end of this season but we are going to try and finish strongly.
“We've got to try and finish as high up as possible and ahead of the side currently in second, who are Atletico, that's our aim.”
