Manager Steven Gerrard seemed to cast doubt over his side’s chances of getting all three points as he started the mind games with Celtic.
“It was a very difficult place and I think it affected us from the beginning,” he said of Rangers’ last visit to Parkhead.
“We also had to deal with the mental block of fearing Celtic over the years and the results which had been quite damaging to the team.
“I think beating them at Ibrox and showing, at our best, we can compete and we can go toe to toe, I think that should help us this time round.

“That doesn’t mean we are going to go there and necessarily get the result – we have to go and work for that and make sure across the park we are up for it and match them in the one versus ones.
“But the players have to believe and have less fear this time going there.”
Rangers have drawn three of their last five league matches which has seen Celtic extend the gap at the top.
Following Brendan Rodgers’ shock departure for Leicester it was expected that the Hoops would suffer a dip in form.
But Neil Lennon has kept their hopes of winning a third successive treble alive.

Gerrard made it clear that the only way his side can pull off a miracle and turn things around, is by winning Sunday.
“We understand the gap where it stands now, and for us, it is ‘can we affect that?’ Obviously, if Celtic were to win the game it’s no good for us and if we draw the game it’s not really helpful,” he added.
“The only result that really helps us, if we are talking about title races, is to go and take maximum points.
“Celtic are obviously clear favourites where we sit right now, but this is probably our last opportunity to affect it and make it more interesting than it is right now.”
