Chelsea have these THREE ‘major problems’ to solve - Stewart Robson
CHELSEA have major problems in defence that must be rectified, claims ESPN FC pundit Stewart Robson.
Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League table, with their hopes of finishing in the top four diminishing.
They are in the quarter-final of the Europa League though, where they face Slavia Prague.
Robson has repeatedly stated he does not think Jorginho is up to the task of being a defensive midfielder, especially in the Premier League.
But he claims the Italian is only one of three problem players for head coach Maurizio Sarri.
There’s three major problems with Chelsea defensively
He says there are also big question marks over left-back Marcos Alonso and centre-back David Luiz.
“There’s three major problems with Chelsea defensively,” former Arsenal midfielder Robson said.
“David Luiz can’t run when the ball’s played down the side.
“That space is left open because Alonso is playing higher up the field. He’s not good in one v one situations.
“And they’ve got a holding-midfield player that can’t get around the pitch, so that’s the biggest problem.”
Chelsea lost 2-0 to Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.
And Robson praised the Toffees for their second-half performance.
“The thing that changed the game wasn’t Chelsea not playing, it was the fact that Everton started to play,” he continued.
“Everton did everything wrong in the first half by allowing Chelsea lots of time on the ball.
“Every team that seems to go and press Chelsea, make it difficult for them to play out from the back, have success.
“Everton didn’t do that in the first half, they did it a bit more in the second half and suddenly the game changed.
"Chelsea have got problems.”
