Man Utd assistant Michael Carrick makes ‘RIDICULOUS’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revelation
MANCHESTER UNITED players want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stay as manager.
Man Utd: Solskjaer WILL be appointed permanently says Neville
That’s been confirmed by Solskjaer’s assistant at Old Trafford Michael Carrick, who also wants the Norwegian to remain.
In fact, so much does Carrick want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stay that he has rubbished suggestions anyone else will take the job.
A number of players have been vocal with their support of Solskjaer, who is in caretaker charge until the end of the season.
Romelu Lukaku and Luke Shaw have both backed the former striker publicly, while Jesse Lingard has shown his support on social media.
And now Carrick has confirmed that everyone at the club wants executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to give Solskjaer the role on a permanent basis.
"Of course I want him to stay, for me to say anything else would be ridiculous," Carrick told Manchester Evening News.
"It’s obvious that all the players and everyone wants Ole to stay, especially when you’re winning games as well the players always want the manager to stay.
"That’s the factor of any United fan or staff, I think if you asked anyone really no one is going to go against Ole at the moment."
Solskjaer has won 14 of his first 18 games as Manchester United manager after taking over following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
His first Premier League defeat came last week as United beat Arsenal.
They face Wolves in the FA Cup in their next match, travelling to the Molineux on Saturday (7.55pm).
Despite his record, ESPN pundit Gabriele Marcotti believes Manchester United should wait before they make a decision on Solskjaer.
“There’s no question that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done a tremendous job, he’s surpassed all expectations,” he said.
Man United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised by Shaka Hislop
“Mike Phelan with him has been a big part of it.
“But you’d be an absolute fool to give Solskjaer the job now.
“You stick to your original plan, you go out there and see what you can get, who is realistically available, how much it will cost, and you make a decision at the end of May.
“If it’s still Solskjaer, it’s still Solskjaer.”
