Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund: Jermaine Jenas reveals big concern over two Spurs players
TOTTENHAM defenders Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier are the two biggest concerns for Wednesday’s match against Borussia Dortmund.
That is according to BT Sport pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
Foyth and Aurier were surprise names in the Spurs starting XI for the Champions League last-16 first-leg clash at Wembley.
The Argentine slotted into a back three alongside Toby Alderwerield and Davinson Sanchez.
Aurier took up a familiar role at right wing-back instead of England international Kieran Trippier, with manager Mauricio Pochettino opting for a change in formation.
Aurier and Foyth are the two players tonight you would look at and say they make mistakes in big moments
Ahead of kick off, Jenas said Borussia Dortmund would look to exploit the duo.
“Aurier and Foyth are the two players tonight you would look at and say they make mistakes in big moments,” he said.
“With [Christian] Pulisic and [Jadon] Sancho in those wide areas, and as quick as they are, they’ll be looking to expose those areas.”
Foyth was making his Champions League debut after 10 previous appearances in all competitions this season for Tottenham.
And Jenas says it was a big evening for the 21-year-old.
“It’s a big night for him, huge night for him,” the pundit continued.
“The manager has shown a lot of faith in him.
“You’re drawn to the couple of mistakes he made at Wolves but he did put in a good performance at Crystal Palace.
“But that is what you get from young players, that lack of consistency.
“He’s got a couple of good centre-halves around him tonight and also a wing-back in Vertonghen who is going to have to help him out to get him through that.
“But I like that setup.”
