Man Utd news: ‘I don’t know why he said that’ - Schmeichel slams Neville for saying this
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville is WRONG to say his former side have no chance of a comeback in their second leg against PSG.
Man United: Peter Schmeichel hits back at Gary Neville
That is according to ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who has criticised his former team-mate.
PSG beat United 2-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday in their Champions League last-16 first leg.
Goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe sealed a comfortable win for the Ligue 1 side.
After the game Neville told beIN SPORTS the tie was already over before the second leg on March 6.
If anyone has taken part in creating miracles with that football club, he’s one of them
“No Neymar and no Cavani tonight, so they can’t complain,” Gary Neville said.
“They were outclassed, Paris Saint-Germain were the better team and the tie now looks beyond Manchester United.”
But Schmeichel took exception to Neville’s comment and says a lot can change before the second leg.
“I don’t know why he said that,” the Dane responded.
“If anyone has taken part in creating miracles with that football club, he’s one of them.
“I think Thomas Tuchel actually said it correctly there: ‘if we can win 2-0 away from home, they can win 2-0 away from home’.
“Nothing from this game points in that direction, but there’s a three-week period now.
“Anything can happen in the three weeks before the second leg.
“Make no mistake about it, Manchester United would have learned a lot from today, an awful lot.
“In three weeks you can improve a lot, you can train a lot, you can come up with a proper plan.”
United will be without Paul Pogba for the second leg after he was sent off late on at Old Trafford.
They are next in action on Monday when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round at Stamford Bridge.
