Leicester 0-1 Man Utd RECAP: Rashford strike makes it ten unbeaten for Solskjaer
MARCUS RASHFORD's first half strike ensured Manchester United beat Leicester and meant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to taste defeat from his first ten games as Red Devils boss.
LEICESTER 0-1 MAN UTD
• Marcus Rashford opened the scoring, finishing powerfully from Paul Pogba's lofted ball
• Manchester United make it ten games unbeaten under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
• Leicester suffer a third straight Premier League home defeat
• First time the Red Devils have won five away games in a row since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge
Solskjaer hails defence
16.25: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has acknowledged that it wasn’t the best performance from his Manchester United side.
"We know we can play better, but you can’t play fantasy football all the time,” he said.
“We fought for our mates next to us, we put our heads on the line, we put our bodies on the line.
“It was a great defensive performance from within the box.”
Rashford speaks
16.15: Marcus Rashford knows exactly what that result means after dropping points at home to Burnley earlier this week.
“It has a huge importance but for us we are just looking at blocks of work and we just keep trying to improve ourselves,” Rashford said.
“The last result wasn’t what we wanted so we have to improve and we did that today.
“It was a different type of game, it had different challenges and was difficult so to get the win is very good.”
Leicester 0-1 Man Utd
FULL TIME: That's it. It's ten unbeaten for Solskjaer and three home defeats in a row for Leicester. United always had the Foxes under control and it's a fifth away win on the bounce for the Red Devils.
90+2: Pogba charges forward and wins a foul for which Ndidi is booked for, or it could be for kicking the ball away. Either way, he's shown a yellow card. Martial is then given the same for timewasting.
90: It's end to end with Martial now stopped by Schmeichel. Into four minutes added time.
89: Solskjaer goes defensive using his final sub to bring Phil Jones on for Jesse Lingard.
88: And immediately after Leicester have a chance to equalise but Vardy's effort is again straight at De Gea.
87: Romelu Lukaku has a golden chance to seal the points but his shot is easily saved by Schmeichel. Into the final three minutes of the 90.
84: Final change for Leicester with former Man City man Kelechi Iheanacho on for Mendy. Foxes fans getting frustrated at decisions going against them. United using that 'game management' many managers talk about.
82: Booking for Leicester with Rhezzal shown the yellow for a challenge on Martial.
82: Booking for Leicester with Rhezzal shown the yellow for a challenge on Martial.
81: Leicester could have been level from the set-piece. Harry Maguire nods it down, Johnny Evans swings a boot but hits nothing but fresh air!
80: Yellow card for Luke Shaw as he bodychecks Ricardo. Leicester still putting pressure on but United holding firm for now.
77: Stunning save from David de Gea to push Ghezzal's free-kick around the post. United make their second sub now with goalscorer Marcus Rashford off and Romelu Lukaku coming on.
74: Leicester make their second change as Shinji Okazaki replaces Demarai Gray.
69: Leicester piling the pressure on with a quarter of this match remaining. A Harvey Barnes cross-shot curls wide of the post.
67: That's the end of Alexis Sanchez for today with Anthony Martial coming on in place of the Chilean.
61: James Maddison fires a free-kick into the wall. It falls to Vardy but his effort is straight at De Gea who scrambles to keep it out. That's Maddison's last action with Ghezzal replacing him.
59: And he knows United can turn it on just like that. Rashford drives wide but should there have been a penalty there? Pogba appeared to be blocked off but nothing given.
57: Both teams probing but chances are at a minimum. Not that Solskjaer will be minding that too much at the moment.
51: United have settled down slightly with Rashford sprinting forward but his pass is too weak for Sanchez. Solskjaer's side may be happy to sit back knowing they have that pace to burst forward.
46: We are back underway at the King Power. No changes just yet. Puel will be hoping his Leicester charges can continue their pressure from the end of that first half.
HALF TIME
HT: A frantic few minutes with Leicester piling the pressure on with Ricardo firing at De Gea from the edge of the box.
That's the last action of the half. Join us again in 15 or so.
45: And now Mendy is booked for a slide tackle on Herrera. Rashford then firest straight at Schmeichel. Into three minutes of added time.
42: It's a second yellow for United with Nemanja Matic pulling back Ricardo Pereira before Harvey Barnes curls one wide from 30 yards.
39: Leicester look strong from corners and former United defender Johnny Evans puts one wide under pressure from Bailly.
35: Leicester will remember they have the pace in Vardy to exploit any lapses of concentration in the Manchester United defence. The Foxes are getting into dangerous positions with ten minutes until half time.
32: First booking for Leicester now as Jamie Vardy clatters into Victor Lindelof. The striker has seen precious little of the ball and that tackle had frustration written all over it.
31: Ashley Young finds Jesse Lingard in the box, he turns but his shot is immediately blocked and is easy for Schmeichel.
28: Leicester really growing into this game now. A bit like in midweek when they conceded in the opening minutes against Liverpool before battling back.
25: Maddison turns neatly from 25 yards out but his shot is straight at David de Gea. Both teams finding good positions down the flanks but can't make a telling final pass.
20: First booking of the day as Jesse Lingard brings down James Maddison on the break.
15: Excellent block from Luke Shaw denies James Maddison. That would have almost certainly been an equaliser for the Foxes. Maddison is down as Bailly also came into block while Rashford appears to have picked up a knock too.
13: Conceding seems to have settled Leicester, who string a few neat passes together but it leads to nothing.
9: GOAL - MARCUS RASHFORD
Wonderful ball from Paul Pogba after a mistake from Leicester sets Rashford free. And the England striker powers it past Schmeichel. It's a deserved lead.
7: Sharp work from Kasper Schmeichel as he gets down well to block Rashford's flick from Manchester United's first corner. United started brightly at the King Power.
5: It should be 1-0 to the visitors! Marcus Rashford can't find the target from just a few yards out as he puts his header from Luke Shaw's delightful cross wide.
3: Complete mess of a backpass from Eric Bailly hands Leicester a corner and it's glanced just wide from Ndidi.
1: Teams are out and we are underway at the King Power!
Kickoff imminent
14.00: The players are back in the dressing room having done their warm-ups and are just moments away from making their way back onto the pitch.
Manchester United are favourites for the win but they will have seen Liverpool be held by the Foxes.
Can Solskjaer make it ten unbeaten? Or will Claude Puel inflict his first loss as Red Devils boss?
Stay with us for the next couple of hours as we find out.
Sanchez over Martial
13:45: Ex-Everton defender Andy Hinchcliffe understands why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone with Alexis Sanchez over Anthony Martial today.
“It seemed to be a straight choice between Martial and Alexis Sanchez,” Hinchcliffe said. “I can understand Sanchez starting, the game may be very defensively tight.
“Expect Leicester to sit behind the ball, back four, a midfield five. So space might be at a bit of a premium.
“Alexis Sanchez is a master of getting into space and finishing. Martial maybe likes the game to be a bit more stretched.
“I don’t think Sanchez will finish the game, Martial will come on.
“But I can understand why Sanchez is in from the start where the game is really congested.”
Leicester hope
13.40: Leicester come into today’s game having held Premier League leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in midweek.
And pundit Danny Mills believes it suits the Foxes to play the bigger teams.
“They've got a great record against the top sides,” Mills said.
“They come, control possession and attack Leicester - who can play on the counter attack. Exactly like they did when they won the league.
“When they have to break teams down it doesn't suit them. That's why they're destined to finish anywhere between seventh and 14th.”
Sanchez back for United
13.25: Alexis Sanchez is back for Manchester United today, and fans are predicting a goal from the former Arsenal man.
One posted on social media: “Sanchez to score today.”
“5-0 Sanchez to score,” another added.
A third simply wrote: “Sanchez has to score today.”
Team news
13.10: There’s four changes for Manchester United from the side that started the draw with Burnley.
Paul Pogba starts and Alexis Sanchez is also in while Anthony Martial is on the bench alongside Romelu Lukaku.
For the hosts, new signing Tielemans hasn’t even made the bench.
Leicester: Schmeichel, Ricardo, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell, Ndidi, Mendy, Gray, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy. Subs: Ward, Fuchs, Morgan, Choudhury, Ghezzal, Okazaki, Iheanacho.
Man Utd: De Gea, Young, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Sanchez. Subs: Romero, Dalot, Jones, Fred, Mata, Martial, Lukaku.

Pogba injury concern
12.55: Paul Pogba sustained a knock during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Burnley in midweek.
But Solskjaer was confident that the French midfielder, who has shone since the former striker took over as boss, will be okay for today.
Speaking about his midfield general’s fitness, Solskjaer said: “I thought I was going to have to take Paul off [Pogba] just when Burnley scored the second goal because he got a knock.
“He did well to run it off and I think he’s okay.
“I think he’ll be okay and Anthony [Martial] hopefully will be okay for the weekend.”
Worrying times for Claude Puel
12.40: For Claude Puel’s Foxes, they are looking to avoid a third straight Premier League home defeat.
Leicester haven’t been in the best of form, losing three of their last four in all competitions.
The omens aren’t good for the hosts having won just one of their 12 home Premier League match against Manchester United.
They may be able to call on the services of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans who joined from Monaco on transfer deadline day.

Man Utd seek to extend unbeaten run
12.30: Manchester United travel to Leicester today looking to bounce back from a home draw with Burnley.
The Red Devils were somewhat fortunate to come away with a point from their clash with the Clarets having been 2-0 down heading into the 87th minute.
But late goals from Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof rescued a point and ensured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained unbeaten.
The Norwegian had won his first eight matches since taking temporary charge and will be looking to get back on the winning trail against Leicester.
