Chelsea transfer news: Callum Hudson-Odoi makes decision amid Bayern Munich speculation
CHELSEA gem Callum Hudson-Odoi will not be leaving the club this month.
Chelsea SHOULD sell Callum Hudson-Odoi says Trevor Francis
The teenager has been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich with less than a week of the transfer window remaining.
The winger handed in a transfer request over the weekend before scoring as Chelsea beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 in the FA Cup.
Following that clash, Hudson-Odoi gave little away when he was questioned on his future.
“I don’t know [if it’s my final game],” Hudson-Odoi said. “I can’t say.
“I keep working hard and you never know what’s going to happen. I can’t say [if spoken with Bayern Munich].”
But now the Daily Mail claim that Hudson-Odoi has decided to stay at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.
It’s reported that he won’t sign a new deal at Chelsea with his current one expiring in 2020.
And that means he will join Bayern Munich in the summer.
The Mail claim the decision has come following meetings between Hudson-Odoi’s representatives and club managing director Marina Granovskaia.
Chelsea are reportedly still hopeful that the 18-year-old will sign a new five-year deal worth £80,000 a week.
But it appears that the Blues will be forced to accept a lot less than the £35million Bayern Munich reportedly offered earlier this month.
Former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner believes Hudson-Odoi should stay in England and join Liverpool instead.
“Well I wish I was this kid,” Mariner said on ESPN FC.
“As you say he’s in such demand, look at the clubs that are interested in him.
“All Chelsea fans are saying ‘please sign, please re-sign for us’. But he’s at the stage in his career where he wants to play.
“Will he get playing time at [Borussia] Dortmund? Maybe, maybe not. Bayern he probably would because they’re going to get a little bit aged.
“For playing time, I’m going to say yes, get yourself moving [to Liverpool]. Chelsea fans won’t be too happy about it.”
