Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead in the first half with a clinical near-post finish.

The Gunners lost Hector Bellerin to a serious knee injury in the second half.
But the home side held on to close the gap between them and Chelsea to three points.
ARSENAL PLAYER RATINGS
Leno: Despite Chelsea pressure, the Arsenal goalkeeper wasn't tested too much - 6
Bellerin: Provided the assist for Lacazette's thumping finish. But the right-back was forced off with a serious looking knee injury. Arsenal fans will hope it is not too serious - 6
Sokratis: The Greek centre-back has been Arsenal's best defender this season and today he was strong, combative and kept his head when Chelsea threatened - 7
Koscielny: The Arsenal captain was imperious tonight. He read everything. He blocked everything. Rallied the team when they came under pressure. His goal was lucky but he deserved it - 8
Kolasinac: The big Bosnian now appears to Arsenal's first choice left-back. As well as his marauding runs forward, he kept his discipline to keep Arsenal in the lead - 7
Torreira: Restored to the line-up as part of a diamond shape in midfield and he was his usually all-action self. Helped protect the Arsenal backline - 7
Xhaka: One of his most disciplined performances in an Arsenal shirt. Didn't stray too far forward and provided calm on the ball - 7
Ramsey: A performance which will leave fans wondering why he's leaving for free. The Welshman was a surprise name in the line-up but he did everything asked of him as pressed from the front and harried the Chelsea defence. Unai Emery needs to find space for him in the team - 8
Guendouzi: The young Frenchman impressed in the corresponding fixture in August and he did well again today. The 19-year-old is earning his place in the team - 7
Aubameyang: A quiet game for Arsenal's top scorer. But Emery will be pleased with his effort after a poor performance last week - 6
Lacazette: The France striker hasn't been in the goals recently but you wouldn't know that from his goal. His finish in the first half was ruthless. But his all-round display was even better - 7
